How it Happened
Making his first Saturday start of the season, Tyler Wilson continued to dazzle for the Rams, this time tossing his first career complete game in Rhody's 2-1 win over Saint Joseph's.
Backed by a solid defense that turned in several key plays behind him, Wilson allowed the Hawks their only run of the game in the top of the third. Of the remaining six innings, he retired the side in order four times and faced just one over the minimum twice.
However, SJU's Pat Vanderslice matched Wilson's efficiency, allowing just one run through the first five frames. With two away in the sixth - and runners on second and third - the Hawks intentionally walked Martin Taveras and brought in reliever Justin Aungst to face Mike Sherburne.
Sherburne, who had struck out and laid down a sac-bunt earlier in the game, battled back from a 1-2 count and worked an eight-pitch walk to push across Ryan Olmo for what would prove to be the game-winning run.
