How it Happened
Rhode Island (10-12-1) sent 11 hitters to the plate in the top of the fourth and scored six runs on six hits to take a 6-0 lead over the Bulldogs. Mike Corin got things started with a leadoff walk before advancing to second on a bunt single by Chris Hess. Mike Sherburne then doubled down the third base line to score Corin. Matt O'Neil followed with a single to right that drove in Hess. Chase Livingston laid down the Rams' second bunt single of the inning to push across Sherburne and set up Jordan Powell's RBI single to right. Martin Taveras drove in the final two Rhody runs of the frame, sending the first pitch he saw back up the middle, allowing Powell and Livingston to score and give URI a 6-0 advantage.

Blaise Whitman then fired a 1-2-3 bottom of the fourth before Ryan Olmo scored on a two-out balk in the top of the fifth, increasing the URI lead to 7-0.

Bryant (8-13) got its first run of the game in the bottom of the frame but Taveras scored in the sixth and followed with a sacrifice fly in the seventh to make it a 9-1 game.

The Bulldogs added another run in the bottom of the seventh, but Rhody responded once again, this time hanging two on the board in the top of the eight. Olmo scored first, on a double by O'Neil, before Mike Foley picked up his first career hit and RBI on a single through the left side that plated Sherburne.

Bryant tacked on four runs in the bottom of the eighth, but that was as close as the game would get as Rhode Island held on for the 11-6 victory.
