How it Happened
Rhode Island (0-2) scored the first run of the game in the top of the third inning, but No. 14 Florida State scored the rest of the day's runs to take an 8-1 victory Saturday afternoon.

Connor Foreman reached on an error to start the Rhode Island third. He came around to score when Martin Figueroa laced a double to center field, putting the Rams ahead 1-0.

The Seminoles came right back with four in the bottom of the inning. A leadoff double and two walks sandwiched around a strikeout loaded the bases with one out. Rhody starter Tyler Wilson (0-1) got his second strikeout of the inning to give himself a chance to end the threat, but John Sansone hit a grand slam to right center to put Florida State in front.

Florida State added one in the fifth, two in the sixth and one more in the seventh to gradually salt the game away.
