How it Happened
Penn State (9-10) used a two-out rally to take a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning, before Rhody (6-10) cut it in half in the top of the fourth. Martin Figueroa led off the inning with a triple to right center and was driven on a single up the middle by Ryan Olmo. Olmo then advanced to second when Derek Gardella was hit by a pitch and moved to third on a sac-bunt by Chase Livingston, setting up Matt O'Neil's sacrifice fly that made it a 4-2 game.
The Rams cut the deficit to 4-3 in the seventh when Livingston scored from first on a double by Corin, but the Nittany Lions got the run back on a URI error in the bottom of the frame.
After Chris Hess singled and was stranded in the top of the eighth, Corin and Jesse Lee drew back-to-back two-out walks in the top of the ninth, but a Jordan Powell groundout ended the late threat.
