Box Score How it Happened
Winthrop (6-5) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first but Mike Corin evened the score in the top of the second when he lined a lead off home run over the left field wall to make it a 1-1 game.
The Eagles pulled back ahead in their next trip to the plate however, using a walk, a fielder's choice, a triple and a home run to go up 4-1 before stretching it to 6-1 in the bottom of the third.
Corin scored again in the top of the fourth, tripling with one away before coming around to score on a base hit by Derek Gardella. Two more singles by Matt O'Neil and Kevin Heiss then set up a game-tying grand slam by Ryan Olmo.
The Eagles pulled back ahead in the bottom half of the inning but Rhody knotted the score once more in the top of the fifth when Martin Figueroa crossed the plate on an RBI ground out by Corin. RBI singles by Corin and Gardella made it 9-7 Rhode Island in the top of the seventh and freshman Kevin Heiss scored in the top of the eighth to make it 10-7.
The Rams (2-6) pushed one more across in the top of the ninth as Mike Foley pinch ran for Corin - who drew a two-out walk - and stole second before crossing the plate on Gardella's fourth hit of the afternoon.

After loading the bases on walks in the bottom of the third, he was replaced by redshirt junior Blaise Whitman.
