How it Happened
Rhode Island (12-15) got on the board in the top of the first, as Chris Hess was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning, advanced to second on a groundout by Ryan Olmo, stole third and scored on an RBI groundout by Derek Gardella. Brown (9-16) quickly pulled ahead however, plating three runs on three hits, two walks and a Rhody error in the bottom of the frame.

The Rams responded with a three spot of their own, evening the score at four apiece in the top of the second. Brett McManus doubled to right to get things started before advancing to third on a wild pitch. Jesse Lee and Mike Foley then drew back-to-back walks to load the bases for Kevin Heiss, who roped a two-run single into left field. Next, a Brown error on a Hess fly ball moved Heiss to second and Foley to third and set up Ryan Olmo's game-tying sacrifice fly.

The Bears pulled back ahead on the bottom of the frame, and stretched their lead to 6-4 in the third.

Rhode Island came back again though, this time taking its first lead of the game in the top of the fifth. Olmo reached first - on a one-out hit-by-pitch - advanced to third on a bloop single by Gardella and then scored on Mike Corin's single through the left side. McManus then reached on a Brown fielding error to load the bases for Lee, whose bases-clearing double down the left field line made it 8-6 Rhody.

Heiss collected his third RBI of the game in the top of the seventh, driving in McManus who had singled to left to lead off the inning. A bases-loaded walk to Hess then plated Lee to give Rhody a 10-6 advantage.

Brown put nine runners on base in the fourth through the ninth innings - including five in scoring position - but Rhody got out of the jam each time, holding on for the 10-6 win.
