How it Happened
Scoreless after five innings, Martin Figueroa broke the deadlock with a two-out solo shot that put Rhody ahead 1-0 in the top of the sixth. In his next at-bat, Figueroa used an eighth-inning groundout to drive in Laurence Hill and give URI a 2-0 advantage. Jordan Powell then roped a two-out double down the left field line to plate Chris Hess and put the visiting Rams up 3-0.
Fordham got its only run of the game in the bottom of the frame when Ian Edmiston scored on a passed ball. After that, Tyler Wilson retired the next five Fordham hitters he faced to finish off his first complete game of the season.
With the win, Rhody improves to 5-2 in the Atlantic 10 and 13-15 overall. Fordham, meanwhile, drops to 17-18 (4-3).
