How it Happened
Rhode Island dropped its third straight contest, falling 7-1 to Hartford in a non-conference game Wednesday afternoon.
The Rams (24-25) struggled to get any offense going. As a team, Rhody was 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position and just 1-for-10 with any runners on base. The leadoff hitter reached just once in nine innings for Rhode Island.
Hartford (35-13) scored a single run in the top of the third, then broke things open with six runs in the fourth inning. Chris DelDebbio and Ben Bengston each hit a two-run double during the outburst. All six runs were scored after two outs had been recorded. The victory was the fifth in a row and 14th in the last 16 games for Hartford.

- Junior Martin Figueroa doubled, singled and was hit by a pitch. The double was his team-leading 19th two-bagger of the season.
- Redshirt freshman Sam Ilario recorded his first career multi-hit game, getting a pair of singles.
- Redshirt junior Matt O'Neil had a double.
- Sophomore Mike Foley singled and scored one run.
- Redshirt junior Jesse Lee singled and walked once.

- Four of Rhode Island's eight hits came with two outs.
- Freshman Jason Blanchard was charged with the loss, allowing one run on one hit over a 2.1-inning start. He struck out two, but hit one and walked three.
- Redshirt junior Blaise Whitman gave up six runs (all earned) on five hits and a pair of walks over an inning and a third of relief work.
- Senior Brad Applin gave Rhody a strong outing in relief, throwing 3.1 scoreless innings, striking out two while allowing one hit and one walk.
- Redshirt junior Matt Ferraiolo provided a 1-2-3 eighth inning, retiring the side on just eight pitches.
- Junior Evan Flanagan pitched a scoreless frame in the ninth, getting a strikeout to end the inning.
