How It Happened
Rhode Island suffered a tough 6-0 loss Friday night against Memphis. The Rams (1-4-0) could not keep up with the ranked #24 Tigers.
Memphis (4-0) got on the board first when Marie Levasseur found the back of the net in the 16th minute. The Tigers would add two more goals in the half, with one shot coming from Maggie Overby with an assist from Marie Levasseur. Elizabeth Woerner helped the Tigers strike again off an assist by Jessica Lisi. Rhode Island trailed 3-0 going into the break.
In the second half, redshirt sophomore Haley Brennan was in goal for Rhode Island. However the Tigers added to the board after Mikayla Morton scored on a penalty kick 15 minutes into the second half. Morton would go on to score her second goal of the night off an assist from Marie Levasseur.
Memphis got its final goal of the night when Samantha Murphy sealed the victory on a goal with 12:51 left to play, handing the Rams their fourth loss of the season.
