How It Happened
Rhode Island (2-4-0) snapped a three-game losing streak with a 1-0 victory over Vanderbilt at the Music City Invitational in Nashville, Tenn. Sunday afternoon.

In the first half, goalkeeper Julia Freeman made five saves to send the teams into the break tied at zero. The freshman would make two more saves for a career-high seven stops.

After the break, freshman Kelsie Cummings found the back of the net with an assist from senior Svana Hermannsdottir with 5:19 to play. A strong Ram defensive line limited the Commodores (3-3-0) to just one shot before Rhody's eventual 1-0 victory.

  • Freshman Kelsie Cummings recorded the first goal of her career in the win. Senior Svana Hermannsdottir was credited with the assist, her second this season.
  • Freshman Julia Freeman made a total of seven saves while in goal. Her counterpart, Kaitlyn Fahrner, had five.
