How It Happened                                      
Senior Becca Rogers had her second straight dominant start as Rhode Island defeated Marist 5-2 for its third win of the Charleston Invitational Saturday afternoon.

Rogers – who threw a one-hit shutout Friday against North Carolina State – carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning. She retired the first 11 batters she faced before Marist had a batter reach on an error.

With Rogers shutting down Marist's offense, the Rams (5-9) broke open a scoreless tie with three runs in the top of the fifth. With two outs and Caileigh Holland on second, Leah Krivitsky delivered a single to right center to bring in the first run. Sami Villarreal followed with a walk before Faith Musselwhite drove a double to centerfield that scored Krivitsky and Villarreal for a 3-0 lead.

Rhody added two more in the sixth when Krivitsky and Villarreal drew back-to-back walks with the bases loaded. Marist (4-5) managed to score twice in the sixth inning after breaking up Rogers' no-hit bid, but Julia Waraksy pitched a scoreless seventh inning to close out the game.

• Senior Becca Rogers (3-2) picked up her second win in as many days, allowing just two runs on three hits over six innings.
• She also struck out eight batters, giving her 309 for her career. She passed Jenna Thurston (308 from 2003-04) for fourth place in program history.
• Senior Julia Waraksy pitched a scoreless seventh inning for her first save of the season. It was the fourth of her career, tying her with Kathy Regan (1991-94) and Caitlin Kennedy (2013-16) for the most in program history.
• Junior Caileigh Holland singled, walked and scored two runs.
• Freshman Faith Musselwhite hit her fourth double of the season and drove in a pair of runs. She now has a team-high nine RBI.
• Freshman Sami Villarreal singled, walked twice, scored once and drove in one run. She raised her season batting average to .410 and her on-base percentage to .510.
• Redshirt freshman Leah Krivitsky singled, walked and drove in two runs.
• Freshman Ari Castillo singled twice for her second multi-hit game of the year.
• Junior Erica Robles singled.
• All five Rhode Island runs were scored with two outs.
