KINGSTON, R.I. - Former Rhode Island basketball player
Cyril Langevine has signed with KFUM Jamtland Basket of the Swedish Basketball League.
One of the top forwards in Rhode Island history, Langevine finished his collegiate career with 1,082 points, 964 rebounds and 166 blocked shots. He is the fifth-leading rebounder in program history, trailing only Art Stephenson (1,048), Gary Koenig (1,039), Antonio Reynolds-Dean (1,028) and Kenny Green (996).
Langevine is one of just three URI players to record 300 or more rebounds in two different seasons, joining Stephenson and Koenig. The Guyana native had 328 as a junior and 300 his senior season, despite the postseason being canceled due to the COVID pandemic. Langevine also ended his career fourth in Rhody history in blocked shots.
A second-team all-conference and all-defensive team selection in 2018-19, Langevine also earned U.S. Basketball Writer's Association All-District I Team honors that season.
Located in Ostersund, KFUM Jamtland Basket competes in Sweden's highest level of professional basketball. In 2019-20, the team finished 15-18 overall, placing sixth in the 10-team league.
Jamtland's season opener is scheduled for Oct. 20.
