How it Happened
Freshman Catherine Cairns and redshirt junior Emmanuelle Tahane combined for 40 as Rhode Island dominated St. Bonaventure, 76-60, Saturday afternoon.

Rhode Island (5-5, 5-2 A-10) took control early en route to its third straight win and fifth win in six games. After the visiting Bonnies scored the first basket of the game, Rhody responded with a 13-2 run that forced St. Bonaventure to burn a timeout just 6:31 into the game. Marie-Paule Foppossi had six points to lead the run, which helped the Rams reach the end of the quarter with a seven-point lead.

St. Bonaventure (2-8, 1-6 A-10) battled back in the second quarter, using a 12-3 run to get the score within one possession, 23-20. Rhode Island went cold while the Bonnies made their run, hitting just one of eight shots and turning the ball over three times in the opening minutes of the second quarter. Rhode Island warmed up down the stretch, hitting its final four shots of the half to take a 33-25 edge into the break.

Rhode Island put the game away with an offensive explosion in the third quarter. Tahane had 10 points and eight rebounds in the quarter and Cairns added nine points while making three 3-point shots. The Rams outscored St. Bonaventure by 16 points in the period to put the game away. The Bonnies trimmed the lead in the fourth quarter, but the outcome was never in doubt over the final 10 minutes.
