Set One – Dayton 25, Rhode Island 17
Rhode Island scored the first two points of the set, but the lead was quickly erased after the Flyers responded with an 8-1 run. Consecutive Dayton errors, followed by a
Jamie Smith kill got Rhody within two points at 15-13, and again at 16-14, but that was as close as the Rams would get. URI was held without a kill the rest of the way as UD claimed the opening set 25-17.

Set Two – Dayton 25, Rhode Island 16
The second set was tight early on, with neither team leading by more than three until an attack error by the Rams put Dayton up 11-7. The Flyers then used a 7-3 push to stretch their lead to 18-10, but Rhody came back with three straight kills – from
Gillian Klise,
Brynne Wright and
Jamie Smith – to get back within five points (18-13). The Flyers squashed the Rams' momentum however, preventing Rhody from scoring consecutive points again, while also creating enough distance for the 25-16 win.
Â
Set Three – Dayton 25, Rhode Island 12
Rhode Island got off to a strong start in the third set, getting early kills from
Jamie Smith,
Mariah Paulette and
Brynne Wright for a 3-1 advantage. Wright's third kill of the set put URI up 5-4, but a Rhody error tied the game at five apiece and UD never trailed again. The Flyers scored 10 of the next 12 points to move ahead 15-7. URI managed just two kills the rest of the way as Dayton finished strong to complete the three-set sweep.
