How it Happened
Edvin Akselsen scored once in each half and Rhode Island used a second-half surge to cruise by St. Bonaventure Saturday night.
The teams were scoreless until Akselsen found the back of the net for the first time in the 38th minute. He worked his way through the defense and fired a shot to the back left corner for the lone goal of the opening half.
Rhody piled it on in the second half for its biggest offensive showing of the season.
Kevin Castaneda made it 2-0 in the 52nd minute.
Rafa Villanueva sent a cross from the right side that was redirected by
Isak Oystese to Castaneda. About six minutes later, Villanueva and
Ivan Montoro assisted on Akselsen's second goal of the night, which increased the lead to three goals.
Patrick Agyemang capped the night with a goal in the 79th minute. He picked the ball off a St. Bonaventure defender and beat the keeper 1-on-1 to further pad the lead.
