Set One – Rhode Island 25, Dayton 14
The first set was all Rhode Island as the Rams came out and stunned Dayton right from the start. The Flyers never led in the set and only managed to tie the score once, at 1-1. From there, Rhody used a 10-1 run to effectively put things out of reach. The Flyers later scored four straight points to get within four (12-8) but the Rams responded with a 7-2 push and cruised from there, winning 25-14.
Set Two – Dayton 25, Rhode Island 19
The Rams carried the momentum into the second set, claiming the first five points thanks in part to three service aces from
Grace Hammond. The Flyers slowly chipped away at Rhode Island's lead, eventually tying the score at 17-17 and taking their first lead of the match as 18-17. UD then pushed it to 21-17 and allowed Rhody just two kills the rest of the way.

Set Three – Dayton 25, Rhode Island 25
Dayton claimed 13 of the first 20 points in the third set but back-to-back attack errors for the Flyers allowed Rhody to make it a three-point game at 15-12. The Rams hung around, and cut the deficit to one at 22-21, 23-22 and 24-23, but a block error on the next point ended the set in favor of UD.

Set Four – Dayton 25, Rhode Island 23
The fourth set featured six ties and two lead changes, and was tight the entire way. The Flyers scored the first two points and remained on top until a late 4-0 spurt by Rhody moved the Rams in front 20-18. Consecutive points by UD quickly tied the game back up at 20-20 but kills by
Brynne Wright put URI ahead 21-20, and then again 22-21. The Flyers were solid down the stretch however, closing on a 4-1 run to win the set 25-23, and the match 3-1.

Inside the Box Score
- Senior Ella Ratzloff had a match-high 22 digs. With her second of the night, she passed URI Hall of Famer Jessica Salmans and became Rhode Island's all-time leader. Salmans' record had stood since 1997.
- Making Ratzloff's accomplishment even more impressive is the fact that she did not play the libero position full time until her sophomore season, and followed that with an abbreviated junior season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Freshman Brittany Myers registered a team-high 13 kills, followed by grad student Jamie Smith and sophomore Brynne Wright, who had 12 apiece.
- Smith added 14 digs – for her second double-double in as many games – as well as two service aces and three block assists.
- Wright also had three block assists.
- Senior Mariah Paulette finished with eight kills, five blocks, three digs and one service ace.
- Freshman Grace Hammond had 35 assists, 14 digs, three aces, three kills and three blocks.
