Set One – Rhode Island 25, George Washington 7
Rhode Island eased its way to a win in the opening set, allowing the Colonials just five kills and holding them to a -.062 attack percentage. Rhody, meanwhile, attacked at a .464 percentage and converted 100 percent of its sideout opportunities. The Rams opened on a 13-2 run, and pushed their lead to 15 points at 20-5. GW managed just two points the rest of the way.

Set Two – George Washington 25, Rhode Island 23
Rhode Island got off to a 5-1 start in the second set, but GW came back and tied the score at six apiece. The set was tightly contested from that point on. The Colonials took their first lead of the match at 9-8 and stretched the advantage to five at 17-12. URI then scored nine of the next 11 points to – thanks in part to five kills from Brynne Wright – to pull back ahead 21-19. The Colonials erased the deficit once again, closing on a 5-2 run to edge out Rhody by a score of 25-23.

Set Three – George Washington 25, Rhode Island 22
The Colonials rode the momentum into the third set, opening on a 5-0 run and pushing it to 14-3 after a service ace from Elizabeth Drelling. URI and GW traded the next nine points, and the Rams eventually pulled within four on a kill by Tori Britton. The early deficit was too much to overcome however, as GW held on for the 25-22 win.

Set Four – Rhode Island 25, George Washington 16
Rhode Island recorded 16 kills in the fourth set and committed just three attack errors on 39 swings. The Rams scored the first two points of the set, and while GW managed to tie the score twice, Rhody never relinquished the lead. Three consecutive kills by Gillian Klise, Grace Hammond and Claire Wagner stretched URI's lead to seven points (20-13) and the Rams used a 5-1 push to close things out.

Set Five – George Washington 15, Rhode Island 13
The fifth set was a back-and-forth battle featuring five lead changes and 10 ties. Rhode Island trailed 12-11 and 13-12, but tied the score back up both times on kills by Claire Wagner. With the score knotted at 13-13, consecutive attack errors doomed the Rams, allowing George Washington to pick up its first win of the season.
