Marie-Paule Foppossi and Dez Emore led Rhode Island (3-0) to its third straight victory, as the Rams pulled away from Coppin State, 74-45 Sunday afternoon. Foppossi and Elmore combined for 36 points as Rhody opened the season with three victories for the first time since the 2002-03 season. Â
Both teams struggled offensively in the first quarter, combining to shoot 8-for-33. Rhody managed a slight 12-10 lead. Coppin State (2-1) scored the first basket of the game on an Alexandria Hamilton layup, but Rhode Island responded with eight straight points.

The visiting Hawks took an 18-14 lead in the second quarter behind Hamilton, who had 15 points by halftime. Back-to-back 3-pointers from Foppossi sparked the Rams, who went on a 17-1 run over the final 4:42 of the half. Foppossi had seven points during the run, while
