How it Happened
For the second straight game, a bad third quarter and a plethora of turnovers hurt Rhode Island in a 66-54 loss at Holy Cross Thursday night.

The Rams (7-2) and host Crusaders (4-3) were tied 31-31 before Avery LaBarera hit a layup at the halftime buzzer to put Holy Cross up by two at the break. Rhody opened the second half missing its first seven shots as Holy Cross went on a 7-0 spurt. Despite the offensive struggles, URI pulled within five points at 40-35 when Emmanuelle Tahane hit a layup with 4:16 left in the quarter.

From there, Holy Cross started finding its stroke. Cara McCormick and Madison Demski hit back-to-back 3-point shots to start a 9-3 run to close out the quarter.

The teams traded baskets in the first few minutes of the fourth quarter. A Tahane layup got the Rams within eight points at 51-43, but that was as close as Rhode Island got. Holy Cross extended its lead to as many as 18 points, sending URI to its second straight loss.
