How it Happened
Rhode Island dropped its fourth straight game, falling at Saint Louis, 67-60, Wednesday night.
Rhode Island (9-12, 6-8 Atlantic 10) was hitting from long range early, using the 3-pointer to get out in front, 16-8.
Jeremy Sheppard had a pair of 3-pointers, while
Allen Betrand and
Malik Martin each had one. Over the final 9:12 of the half, Saint Louis (9-3, 2-2 A-10) went on a 19-5 run as URI missed its final five shots. Jordan Goodwin led the surge as he finished the half with 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting, helping the Billikens take a 27-21 lead into the break.
The Rams scored the first four points of the second half, all of which came on free throws from
Makhel Mitchell. That was as close as the score got. Saint Louis went on a 15-6 run to open a double-digit lead with 12:40 to go.
