Rhode Island dropped its season opener, falling 2-0 to Providence Sunday.
The Rams held PC to just three shots on goal in the first half, entering the break knotted 0-0. The second half was all Friars, as Providence got on the scoring board 12 minutes in off a goal from Amber Birchwell.Â
Brooke Cavino was able to respond with a shot on goal, but Providence keeper Emma Bodmer was able to make the save. The Friars sealed the win with a goal by Meg Hughes in the final minute for the 2-0 final.Â
