How it Happened
Rhode Island (8-5, 8-2 Atlantic 10) used a scorching shooting touch to put the game away early, rolling to its sixth straight win, a 63-27 victory over George Mason Friday.

Marta Vargas and
Catherine Cairns got Rhode Island out in front early. Vargas and Cairns each hit a pair of 3-pointers, going a combined 4-of-9 from deep in the first quarter as the Rams opened a 16-7 lead 10 minutes in.
By halftime, Rhode Island built a 29-point lead. The Rams did not allow a second-quarter basket until only 1:54 remained in the third. By that time, Rhody was had a 26-point advantage. The outcome was never in doubt in the second half.

- Rhode Island won its sixth straight conference game, matching the longest winning streak for the team dating all the way back to 1995-96Â when the Rams won six straight twice in the season.
- Freshman Catherine Cairns had a game-high 18 points, all of which came on 3-point baskets. For the second time in four games, she hit six from beyond the arc.
- Senior Marta Vargas added 12 points, also doing all her damage from the perimeter. Vargas also had three assists.
- Redshirt sophomore Marie-Paule Foppossi had her first career double-double, scoring 10 points and adding 11 rebounds. She also had three assists.
- Sophomore Yanni Hendley contributed nine points, three rebounds and two assists.
- Sophomore Kassondra Brown had a strong game off the bench, scoring six points with eight rebounds. Â
- Redshirt junior Emmanuelle Tahane was limited to two points, but she dominated the glass. Tahane had 15 rebounds and four assists.
- Rhode Island had 15 assists, with five different players getting at least two.
- The Rams had a 15-4 edge in points off turnovers, and also was +16 on the boards, outrebounding George Mason, 51-34.
- Rhode Island's bench contributed 28 points.Â
