How it Happened
Rhode Island battled in a rainy match at La Salle, but ultimately fell 1-0 to the Explorers Thursday afternoon.
La Salle (4-1) applied offensive pressure early, getting a shot on goal in the opening minutes of the game. Camaren Cox had the shot in the fourth minute, and another shot by La Salle's Amirah Louketis was stopped by Faith Hutchins. Rhody (0-5-2) did get one opportunity to strike in the first half off a Carrie Ellis shot on the frame in the 16th minute, but Jordynn Stallard made the save and both teams went into the break scoreless.
The Explorers scored the only goal they would need with a lower right shot by Molly O'Brien off an assist by Amirah Louketis in the 67th minute. Brooke Cavino took a lower right shot to the frame stopped by Stallard. The Rams answered with three shots, including two on goal, but Stallard kept the goal empty for La Salle for the shutout.
