How It Happened?
For the second straight week, quarterback
Kasim Hill ran for a touchdown in overtime to lift Rhode Island to a road victory over a top 25 team, as the Rams won at No. 18/19 Albany 17-10 Saturday.
Albany (1-2, 1-2 CAA Football) had the ball near midfield in the final minute of regulation, by safety
Coby Tippett recorded his second interception of the game to thwart the possession and get URI to overtime.
Rhode Island got the ball first, and Hill took the first snap of overtime 25 yards for a rushing touchdown that helped give the Rams a 17-10 lead. From there, it was up to the Rhode Island defense.
On first down, defensive end
Andre Bibeault stopped running back Karl Mofor for a loss of 1 yard. Next, defensive back Antoine Carter II tackled Mohammed Jabbie after just a 1-yard gain, and on third down, linebacker
Evan Stewart forced Mofor out of bounds after a 5-yard reception.
Albany was down to its final chance, and when Jeff Undercuffler's pass intended for Mike Gray fell incomplete, the Rams improved to 2-0 for the second time in three seasons.
