How it Happened
Rhode Island struggled to generate offensive chances as it fell to Fordham 1-0 Wednesday afternoon.Â
The Rams managed just two shots on goal as the Fordham defense was able to keep the pressure off keeper Maria O'Sullivan. The first save O'Sullivan made came in the opening minute of play when Carrie Ellis got a shot on goal just 33 seconds into the match. From there, Rhode Island managed six more shots, but only one was on target. In the 66th minute, Laila Rosenthal lined a shot from well outside the box, but it was right at O'Sullivan.
Fordham got on the scoreboard in the 24th minute. After Sage Saige Bingman softened the defense with a shot wide of the net and another that went high, Milan Bornstein found the back of the net. From the top of the box, Bingman got a shot over the top of Rhody keeper Faith Hutchins for the lone goal of the match.
