How it Happened
Rhode Island limited UMass Lowell to just two runs over 16 innings Sunday, as the Rams swept a doubleheader and evened their record at 5-5 for the season. The two wins also gave URI a three-game sweep and its second straight series victory.

Game 1 – Rhode Island 4, UMass Lowelll 0 (7 Inn.)
Mike Webb turned in a dominant performance, pitching a complete-game, two-hit in the first game of the doubleheader. After allowing a single on the first pitch of the game, Webb did not allow another hit until there were two outs in the top of the seventh inning.

Xavier Vargas delivered an RBI single in the bottom of the first, and he later added a two-run single to provide more than enough run support for Webb, who earned his first victory as a Ram.

Game 2 – Rhode Island 5, UMass Lowell 2
Despite being outhit 12-6, Rhode Island manufactured a three-run eighth inning to pull out the victory in the nightcap.

UMass Lowell – which left 10 runners on base – got a two-out single from Jimmy Sullivan in the top of the eighth inning that drove in Gerry Siracusa to tie the game, 2-2.

In the home half of the eighth, Austin White drew a leadoff walk and stole second base. He scored when Max Mircovich blooped a soft single down the right field line. With two on and two out, Sonny Ulliana lofted a long two-run double to the gap in right center, providing a couple of insurance runs.

Freshman Broc French got the final three outs for Rhody in the ninth to lock down his first career save.
