How it Happened
Rhode Island left no doubt in its season finale, romping Massachusetts 16-1 and clinching the Atlantic 10 North division in the process.

With the victory, the Rams (27-24-1, 14-6 Atlantic 10) clinched at least the No. 3 seed in the conference championship next week. Rhody will be the No. 3 seed if Dayton beats George Washington on Saturday. If GW wins the game, URI moves up to the No. 2 seed.

Rhode Island led start to finish, literally. Austin White hit a home run on the first pitch of the game. Later in the inning, Josh Brodeur scored on an infield error to put the Rams ahead 2-0.

The Rams scored in six of the seven innings played. They added two in the third inning and one in the fourth inning before truly putting the game away with a five-run fifth inning. There was a single run in the sixth, and another five-run rally in the seventh that helped invoke the 10-run rule and end the game early.
