How it Happened
Rhode Island was unable to get on the scoreboard as the Rams fell for the first time this fall, losing 1-0 to Northeastern Sunday afternoon.

Rhody applied pressure on Northeastern right out of the gate. A shot from Laila Rosenthal in the sixth minute went off the crossbar. Just a few minutes later, Brooke Cavino managed a shot on goal, but keeper Megan Adams made the stop for the Huskies. In the 34th minute, Francesca D'Agostino put a shot off the post, as the Rams were unlucky in the opening half.

The lone goal of the afternoon did not come until the second half. Northeastern's Halle McCabe finished a cross from Mikenna McManus in the 60th minute. The goal lifted the Huskies to their third straight victory, all of which have come by way of the shutout. McCabe's shot to the lower right of the net slipped by the URI defense.

While Rhode Island outshot Northeastern for the match, the Rams were unable to generate an equalizer. Cavino had a header that Angelina Friel stopped in the 53rd minute. Rhody's Tess O'Connell tested Friel in the 59th minute, but she again was up to the task. Despite entering the game at halftime, Friel made six second-half saves to preserve the victory.
