With Rhode Island leading 17-16, the Rams scored four straight points to take command of the opening set. Jaime Smith had a kill and solo block, while
Claire Wagner had two service aces to help the Rams take control. The teams traded several points, but a
Grace Hammond kill secured the set for Rhode Island.

Set Two – New Hampshire 25, Rhode Island 23
After a
Brynne Wright kill made the score 12-11 in favor of New Hampshire, the teams were not separated by more than one point until New Hampshire took a 22-20 lead on a kill from Kelly Kaufmann. Rhody tied it at 22-22, but the Wildcats scored three of the final four points. Two attack error from the Rams and a kill from Abby Sullivan helped UNH tie the match.

Set Three – Rhode Island 25, New Hampshire 9
Rhode Island simply exerted its will in the third set, scoring 16 of the first 21 points.
Claire Wagner had six kills early in the set, and New Hampshire had no answer as the Rams took control of the match.
Set Four – Rhode Island 25, New Hampshire 21
New Hampshire appeared poised to tie the match until Rhody ran off six straight points late in the set to establish a 20-15 lead. Three attack errors and a sanction on the UNH coach allowed the Rams to take control of the set. New Hampshire tried to rally, but kills from
Jamie Smith and
Brynne Wright sandwiched around a UNH block clinched the match.
Inside the Box Score
- Rhode Island has now won six of its last seven matches to climb above .500 for the first time since it won two of its first three matches of the season.
- Junior Claire Wagner had a team-high 17 kills for the Rams. She also had a pair of service aces.
- Graduate student Jamie Smith was exceptional on the attack, recording 16 kills to go with eight digs.
- Smith had just four attack errors and finished the match with a .308 attack percentage.
- Sophomore Brynne Wright gave Rhody three players in double digits with 11 kills.
- Freshman Grace Hammond had a career-high 44 assists to go with 15 digs, two kills and one service ace.
- Senior Ella Ratzloff had 21 digs and now has 1184 for her career. She is tied with URI Athletics Hall of Famer Kengy Gardiner for third place on URI's all-time list.
