How It Happened 
Rhode Island was shut out for just the second time this season, playing to a 0-0 draw at VCU Wednesday night.
 
The two teams played a relatively uneventful first half. Rhody held a 4-2 edge in shots, but VCU had the only shot on goal – a 39th minute attempt which was stopped by Max Hinke.
 
Hinke made another save in the 61st minute, as did his counterpart John Ermini, who turned away a shot by Patrick Gryczewski at 60:49. URI outshot VCU 6-3 from that point on, but neither side was able to truly threaten as none of those nine shots were on goal.

• With the draw, Rhode Island takes over sole possession of fourth place in the Atlantic 10 standings.
• At the end of the eight-game conference slate, the top eight teams advance to the A-10 championship, with the top four seeds hosting opening-round action on their respective campuses.
• Rhody's two remaining conference games are against fifth-place Loyola Chicago and 12th-place Davidson.
• Patrick Gryczewski led URI with three shots. He also had the Rams' lone shot on goal.
• Max Hinke stopped both shots he faced to pick up his third shutout of the season.
