Set One – Loyola 25, Rhode Island 23
The Rams battled the A-10's top team in the opening set but came up just short. Rhody hit at a .265 clip, recording 13 kills with just four attack errors.
Karlee Pinell led all players with six kills in the set while
Hope Passerello added 10 assists and three blocks. Loyola led 18-14 late in the set before a 5-0 Rhody run put the Rams up by a point (19-18). URI also led 20-19 and 22-21 but Loyola used a 4-1 push to close things out.
Set Two – Loyola 25, Rhode Island 12
It was all Ramblers in the second set as the visitors scored the first three points and never let Rhody back in it. Leading 13-7, Loyola then reeled off seven in a row to take a commanding 20-7 lead. The teams split the remaining 10 points as the Ramblers eased their way to the 25-12 victory. For the set, Loyola had an impressive .652 hitting percentage with 16 kills and just one error on 23 attacks.
Set Three – Loyola 25, Rhode Island 11
Rhode Island never led in the final set as Loyola prevented URI from building any sort of momentum. The Rams scored back-to-back points just once, at 22-9 and 22-10, while Loyola converted 91 percent (11-12) of its sideout opportunities. Rhody managed just seven compared to Loyola's 15.
