Set One – Dayton 25, Rhode Island 17
Rhode Island did not lead at any point in the first set as Dayton claimed seven of the first eight points and pushed the lead to 18-10 after back-to-back aces from Anna Wuensch. The Rams had their best hitting percentage of the night in the opening set, despite connecting at a .097 clip.
Brynne Wright led all players with five kills, but the Flyers maintained the lead and coasted to the 25-17 win.
Set Two – Dayton 25, Rhode Island 20
Dayton led the second set 8-4 before a 6-0 run by the Rams game Rhody a 10-8 advantage. During that push, URI got two kills from Wright, one from
Hope Passerello, a solo block by
Mariah Paulette and an ace from
Claire Wagner. All in all, the set featured eight ties – the last of which came on a Paulette kill that knotted the score at 18 apiece. From there however, UD scored six in a row - and seven of the last nine overall - to pull ahead two sets to none.
Set Three – Dayton 25, Rhode Island 13
Dayton carried the momentum into the final set, where it jumped out to a 12-5 lead. Rhody cut the deficit to four (14-10) but UD responded with seven straight points to put things out of reach at 21-10. Overall, the Flyers used a .455 hitting percentage to overpower the Rhody defense. UD had 11 kills in 22 attacks with just one error, and the Rams could not answer. Rhody hit -.083 as a team, picking up just six kills on 24 swings with eight errors.

- Overall, the Rams were limited to 27 kills and a .021 hitting percentage. Dayton, meanwhile, finished the night with 36 kills and a .253 hitting percentage.
