RHODE ISLAND VS. MAINE - SERIES NOTES

  • The all-time series between Maine and Rhode Island is split 13-13.
  • Rhody won the last meeting between the two schools, as the Rams escaped with a 45-44 victory on the road. Junior Dolly Cairns led the Rams with a team-high 14 points.
  • The last win for Maine in the series was Dec. 11, 2020 in Kingston (61-47).
  • The Black Bears enter Sunday's game on a two-game skid. Maine fell to Princeton 65-51 last Friday after dropping to No. 23 Gonzaga 62-43 on Nov. 28.
  • Maine is 1-2 on the road this season while the Rams look to remain undefeated at home (4-0).

SHOW NO QUIT

  • Rhode Island has showed no quit in their first seven games of the season.
  • In every game this year, the Rams have outscored their opponent in the fourth quarter.
  • After shooting 33.3 percent in the third quarter last time out against Buffalo, the Rams went 7-of-14 from the floor in the final period en route to their sixth straight win.

SIX STRAIGHT WWWWWWINS

  • After a successful trip down at the UCF Thanksgiving Classic, the Rams brought their winning ways back to Kingston to defeat Buffalo at the Ryan Center.
  • The Rams have now won six straight after dropping their season opener at Harvard.
  • Last season, head coach Tammi Reiss led the Rams to a 7-0 start, and a 13-game win streak later in the year. Both were program firsts.
  • Reiss has now had four consecutive seasons stringing together a win streak of at least four games. She's just the second head coach to accomplish the feat, and the first since Nancy Langham did so 1977-78 through 1980-81.

NEWCOMERS NOT NEW TO THIS

  • Rhode Island has three true freshmen this season, although all three have professional levels of international experience.
  • Freshmen Anete Adler, Ines Debroise, and Anaelle Dutat have all represented their home countries  in the FIBA League.
  • Adler is the first native of Estonia to be enrolled at the University of Rhode Island.
  • Debroise and Dutat are both from France, and were recruited by associate head coach Adeniyi Amadou.
  • Debroise played in France with the team Charnay Basket Bourgogne alongside former Ram Johanna Muzet.
