How It Happened
Rhode Island was one out away from a victory, but Youngstown State staged a late rally and eventually knocked off the Rams 4-3 in extra innings Saturday night.
URI (2-2) led 3-2 with two outs in the bottom of the seventh when Alex DeLeon singled. Nikki Saibene drove her in with a triple to tie the game.
After Rhody was unable to score in the top of the eighth, Youngstown State (1-3) pushed the winning run in with the help of URI's first error of the season. Bree Kohler began the inning on second. She moved to third when Hailey Roach reached on a throwing error by Rhody pitcher
Liz Lynchard. Conchetta Rinaldi followed with a walk-off single that brought Kohler in from third.
