How It Happened
Colgate (4-1) scored five runs over the final two innings to break open a tight contest and hand Rhode Island a 7-1 loss on the final day of the Runnin' Bulldog Classic in Boiling Springs, N.C. Sunday.
Rhody (2-3) managed its lone run in the bottom of the third inning. Trailing 1-0,
Skyler Rapuano drew a two-out walk and advanced when
Cassie Swenson reached on an error. Victoria Viaclovsky delivered a single to drive in Rapuano and tie the score.
Colgate retook the lead in the top of the fourth. A two-out double by Steph Jacoby drove in pinch runner Claire Whalen to make the score 2-1.
URI managed just one hit over the final four innings, unable to get to Colgate starter Bailey Miskan, who pitched a complete-game five hitter to record the win.

Rhode Island is off for 12 days before it heads to Deland, Fla. for the Hatter Classic from Feb. 25-27. The Rams will play five games there, facing Marist and Stetson twice each, and Harvard one time.
