How it Happened
Game Two of Friday's doubleheader began in similar fashion to Game One, in that the Rams trailed by just one run before the Vols used a five-run inning to create distance. This time, Rhode Island found itself trailing 2-0 heading into the fifth, where Brody McKenzie singled to drive in Joe Fortin. Fortin had led off the inning with an eight-pitch walk before advancing to second on a base hit by Addison Kopack. He then came around to score on the hit by McKenzie, cutting Tennessee's lead in half at 2-1.

The third-ranked Volunteers responded with a four-hit, five-run effort in the bottom of the inning however, and added another run in the bottom of the sixth for the 8-2 advantage.

The Rams did not go down without a fight, putting two more runs on the board in the top of the ninth. Rhody loaded the bases twice and got runs from Tino Salgado – on a sacrifice fly by Kopack – and Rob Butler – on an RBI single by Eric Genther. The late rally fell short however as UT held on for the 8-3 win.
