KINGSTON, R.I. – Rhode Island junior Domenic Picone has been named Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week, announced Monday evening by the conference office. 

A native of Garnet Valley, Pa., Picone recorded a career-high 11 strikeouts on Saturday, leading the Rams to a 6-2 victory against 18th-ranked UConn. He took a no-hitter into the fifth inning, recording 14 outs before allowing the Huskies their first hit of the game.

Overall, the Rhody junior allowed just four hits during his 7.0-inning start, and did not issue a single walk.

The Rams are back in action on Tuesday, when they host Quinnipiac at 2 p.m.
