How It Happened
Rhode Island (11-30) split a pair of one-run games with in-state rival Brown Wednesday afternoon. The Rams took the opener of the doubleheader 6-5 in eight innings, then lost the second game to the Bears (14-24) on a 1-0 walk-off home run.

Game 1 – Rhode Island 6, Brown 5 (8)
Ari Castillo gave Rhode Island the lead in the top of the eighth when she led off with a single that drove in
Leilyn Alvarez, who started the inning on second base. Later, Castillo came around with what proved to be the winning run on a single by
Cassie Swenson.
Brown got one run in the bottom of the eighth, but Swenson got assists on the final two plays of the game to thwart the Bears scoring threat.
Game 2 – Brown 1, Rhode Island 0
Pinch hitter Laurel Moody made the most of her one at bat in the second game, lofting a walk-off home run to left center to lead off the seventh inning. It was the lone run of the game as Brown salvaged a split of the doubleheader.
Moody's home run spoiled a spectacular performance by Rhody pitcher
Noelle Sterner. The freshman allowed just four hits, three of which were singles, in the strongest outing of her career. Sterner struck out four batters while going the distance. However, the Rams were blanked by Brown's Lauren Innerst (5-5).
