Rowing Team Heads to Eastern Sprints Sunday Morning

KINGSTON, R.I. – Rhode Island heads back to Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass. for the second straight weekend for the Eastern Sprints on Sunday, May 1. The event is the team's final tune up in preparation for the 2022 Atlantic 10 Championship.

The 17-school competition includes boats from Boston College, Boston University, Brown, Colgate, Holy Cross, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Drexel, Georgetown, Marist, Northeastern, Radcliffe, Rutgers, Temple, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Competition will feature two sessions of racing. Morning heats begin at 8 a.m. and will feature three heats with up to six boats per heat. The top two finishers in each of the heats will advance to the Grand final in each flight. The third- and fourth-place boats will advance to the Petite finals and the remaining boats will compete in the Third Level finals.

Following a short break, the teams return to the water for the finals, which begin at 12 p.m.

The day will be streamed by locallive.tv in partnership with the Intercollegiate Rowing Association.  

Fans attending the Eastern Sprints are asked to follow COVID protocols that remain in place. When in crowded areas such as food tents, all guests as reminded to maintain and six-foot distance from others and stayed masked, except when eating. Friends and family members are also asked to maintain as much distance as possible from the student-athletes and staff members.
