WORCESTER, Mass. – Each of Rhode Island's top four boats at the 2022 Eastern Sprints placed fifth in the Petite Final of the respective flights Sunday afternoon. The 16-school competition was held on Lake Quinsigamond.

in the Varsity 8+ flight, the team of coxswain Ellie McGee, Catie Castle, Jennae Alexander, Kathy Zeglen, Nicole Jones, Emily Drappeau, Hailey Pardi, Julia Fortin and Anna Sampson were edged at the finish by Dartmouth in the Petite final. Dartmouth had a time of 7:04.803 to take fourth, while URI was exactly one second behind. Boston University won the Petite final in a time of 6:56.377.

The Second Varsity 8+ Petite final was an exciting affair, as all six boats finished within 22 seconds of each other. Harvard-Radcliffe won in a time of 6:56.903. Drexel (6:59.757), Temple (7:03.870) and Boston College (7:04.313) were next in order. Rhode Island's crew of coxswain Alison Gorrarian, Josie Grady, Tinsley Copeland, Alexis Moore, Elizabeth Greason, Sam Gumprecht, Emily Olin, Morgan Cody and Emory Caswell had a time of 7:11.293 to beat out Northeastern (7:12.583).

The Varsity 4+ A Petite final was similarly tightly bunched, with the six boats separated by 15 seconds. The first four boats finished in a span of less than six seconds, as Drexel (7:52.993), Dartmouth (7:54.823), Boston College (7:56.827) and Northeastern (7:58.627) battled throughout. URI's team of coxswain Danielle Swan, Olivia Kowalski, Tessa LeMay, Kat Gillies and Sammie Gorrecki crossed in 8:05.148, just ahead of Georgetown (8:07.918).

In the Varsity 4+ B flight, Rhode Island came up with its fourth fifth-place Petite final of the day. Coxswain Caitlyn Muteru, Jessica Tosi, Lauren Thomas, Sarah Pecoraro and Hannah Bachert posted a time of 7:47.388, well ahead of Temple (8:13.668).

The Varsity 4+C flight was a single race with no morning heat. Rhode Island placed sixth of six, as coxswain Sawyer McNish, Isabella Caldwell, Ella Godsey, Kaitlyn Kutz and Katie Pelletier had a time of 8:12.888, crossing just moments after Boston University's boat.

Rhode Island will have two weeks to prepare for the Atlantic 10 Championship. Held on Saturday, May 14, the Rams will look for a fourth straight conference title on Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J.
