PENNSAUKEN, N.J. – In a dramatic finish, Rhode Island won its fourth consecutive Atlantic 10 Women's Rowing Championship, as the Varsity 8+ boat held off George Washington down the stretch.
The Rams – who clinched the A-10's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship for the sixth time in program history – trailed GW by one point heading into the final race of the day. In order to win the ninth overall league title in program history. URI had to do so in a driving rain, as the skies opened up and pelted the Cooper River with heavy rain just before the deciding race began.

With Rhode Island's win, graduate student
Jennae Alexander became the first woman in program history to compete in and win four A-10 championships. She was on the Second Varsity 8+ boat in 2018 and the Varsity 8+ boat in 2019, 2021 and this season.

Rhode island received an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship, which is being held at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Fla. from May 27-29. It is the sixth overall NCAA appearance for the Rams, who also competed in 2021, 2019, 2018, 2016 and 2013.

Shelagh Donohoe won her eighth Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year honor, including her fourth in a row.
