How it Happened
Rhode Island's Trystan Levesque retired the first 10 hitters he faced before Alden Mathes singled up the middle in the bottom of the fourth. Mathes advanced to third on a Rhode Island error and then crossed the plate on a base hit by Johnny Hipsman to give the Spiders a 1-0 edge.

The Rams left two runners on in both the fifth and sixth, and another in the seventh, before finally breaking through in the top of the eighth. There, Alex Ramirez and Addison Kopack got things started with back-to-back walks and both advanced a base on a wild pitch. Eric Genther was then walked to load the bases. Anthony DePino then sent a sacrifice fly to centerfield to drive in Ramirez and tie the game at one apiece.

Richmond pulled back ahead in the bottom of the frame as Rhode Island failed to record an out on back-to-back fielder's choice plays, which ultimately allowed the Spiders to load the bases with no outs. Mathes then sent a two-run single through the right side and Christian Beal scored when Dominic Toso grounded into a 4-6-3 double play.

Rhody continued to battle in its final trip to the plate with Tino Salgado reaching on an error, Ramirez singling through the left side and Kopack drawing a walk to load the bases with two away. Eric Genther then came to the plate as the go-ahead run and sent a long fly ball to the warning track in right field, but Zach Lass was there to record the final out of the game.
