How it Happened
Senior Brooke Cavino scored her first goal of 2022 in Rhode Island's road battle at Wake Forest, but it wasn't enough as the Rams fell 4-1.

The Demon Deacons set the tone early, testing Rhody's back line by getting four shots in the first five minutes. Wake Forest's Giovanna DeMarco had a shot that got past junior goalkeeper Carly Travers in the sixth minute to go up 1-0. Rhode Island answered with a goal of its own by Cavino. Cavino scored Rhode Island's first goal of the season with a blast off a cross from Sam Hagerty that hit the cross bar just out of the reach of Wake Forest keeper Kaitlyn Parks.

Alex Wood scored the next two goals for the Demon Deacons to give Wake Forest a 3-1 lead before half. The first goal by Wood was a shot just outside the box in the 29th minute. Wood struck again with a blast that went inside the near post past Travers. to send the Demon Deacons into the break with the lead.

The start of the second half was interrupted by lightning. After about a 30 minute delay, play resumed and the Rams were able to draw their first corner of the match in the 51st minute. Wake Forest put the game away after a free kick by Wood was initially stopped by Travers but found the back of the net off the foot of Olivia Stowell.
