Set One – Navy 25, Rhode Island 22
Navy never trailed in the opening set, despite Rhode Island tying the score on four separate occasions. With the score knotted at 9-9, the Midshipmen went on a 7-1 run to build a six-point cushion (16-10). A service ace from
Katie Butler, followed by a
Claire Wagner kill, got Rhody within two at 22-20 but Navy claimed the next two points to play for the set. A kill by
Gillian Klise and an ace from
Abby Fillion extended things to 24-22 before a attack error by the Rams gave Navy the set at 25-22.
Set Two – Rhode Island 25, Navy 18
Navy started the second set in similar fashion to the first, claiming the first point and steadily adding to its advantage. However this time, with the Midshipmen ahead 10-7, Rhody mounted a furious comeback. The Rams used a 10-1 run – which featured eight consecutive points with
Adel Gage serving – to pull ahead 17-11. A service ace from
Hannah Blaney later gave Rhody a seven-point lead (21-14) and the Rams eventually closed things out on top 25-18.

Set Three – Navy 25, Rhode Island 16
The Rams jumped out to a quick 3-1 edge in the third set, but were unable to pull back ahead once Navy erased the advantage. An attack error by the Midshipmen got Rhody within three at 13-10, but Navy responded with five straight points to push its lead to eight (18-10). The Rams trimmed it to five on three separate occasions – at 19-14, 20-15 and 21-16 – but Navy closed things out on a 4-0 run to go up two sets to one.
Â
Set Four – Navy 25, Rhode Island 22
Rhode Island trailed through the majority of the fourth set, but continued to battle and eventually tied the score at 17 apiece. Navy got back on top, but the Rams tied the score again - this time at 22-22. The late rally fell short however, as the Midshipmen scored the next three points to finish things off 3-1.
