Boston College Starters

Set One – Boston College 25, Rhode Island 18
What began as an evenly played set through the first 30 points suddenly turned in BC's favor late. With Rhody up 15-14 following a Claire Wagner kill, the visiting Eagles ran off nine straight points behind the offense of Alayna Crabtree and Jenna Pollock to build a 23-15 lead. The duo combined for kills on six straight points, with Crabtree recording four in the run. Rhody managed to end the spurt with a Gabrielle Shilling kill that led to three URI points in a row, but BC recovered to close out the opening set.

Set Two – Boston College 25, Rhode Island 15
The momentum carried over into the second set, as BC scored four of the first five points. The deficit never got below two points, as the Eagles used a .321 attack percentage to overpower the Rhody defense. BC had 14 kills in 28 attacks, and the Rams could not answer. Rhody hit .000 as a team (seven kills, seven errors in 23 attacks).

Set Three – Boston College 25, Rhode Island 22
Rhode Island played much better in the final set, opening with a strong run early. A pair of kills from redshirt freshman Emma Vente and eight attack errors by BC helped the Rams pull in front by as many as seven points. However, with URI up 13-6, BC began its comeback, scoring five straight points to get back within 13-11. Rhody pushed its lead back to 16-11, but a 9-1 run for the Eagles eventually set up match point before a kill by Izzy Clavenna ended the affair.
