How it HappenedÂ
Rhode Island dominated possession, outshooting the Stags 16-5, and holding an 11-3 advantage in shots on goal.
Â
Jason Anderson frustrated the Rams' attack however, as he stopped each of the first six shots he faced.
Max Kwitchoff finally snuck one past the Fairfield goalkeeper in the 76th minute, thanks to a little assistance from the post.
Edvin Akselsen set things up perfectly, lofting a free kick into the box from 40 yards out. Kwitchoff got his head on the service and directed a shot in off the post for what proved to be the game-winning goal.
Â
The Stags' best chance to salvage the game came in the 90th minute, but
