How it HappenedÂ
Rhode Island got off to an uncharacteristically shaky start, giving up two goals in the first five minutes of play. Florian Deletioglu struck first for Fordham, hammering a shot inside the right post at the 3:47 mark. Nathan Simes doubled the lead just 1:17 later on a bicycle kick goal.
Â
Rhody cut it in half in the 23rd minute when
Patrick Agyemang converted a penalty kick for his first goal of the season. URI outshot Fordham 4-1 through the remainder of the half but the score remained 2-1 heading into the break.
Â
Rhode Island continued to apply pressure throughout the second half, and eventually got an equalizer off the head of Agyemang in the 84th minute.
Edvin Akselsen picked up an assist on the tally, sending a corner kick to the far post where Agyemang was unmarked.
Â
Max Hinke stopped consecutive attempts by Fordham's Andre Insalaco and Daniel Espeleta a minute later to end the game in a 2-2 draw.
