Â
How it HappenedÂ
After a relatively even 41 minutes of play, Dayton was awarded its first corner kick in the 42nd minute. Rhode Island managed to clear the service from the front of the goal, but Dayton's Casper Svendby possessed the ball and sent a 30-yard strike into the box where Manny Day headed a shot over URI's
Max Hinke for the 1-0 advantage.
Â
The next blow for Rhode Island came just 41 seconds into the second half when
Jordan Koduah picked up his second card of the game, forcing the Rams to play the remaining 44:19 a man down. Despite the disadvantage, Rhody played a significant portion of the period in its attacking third and put five shots on goal compared to Dayton's three.
Â
The Flyers eventually netted an insurance goal in the 87th minute however, as Ousseynou Cisse scored on a breakaway just 20 seconds after entering the game.
