How it Happened
Rhode Island scored its most goals in a match in 33 years as it handed an 8-1 defeat to Maine Fort Kent on Senior Day Tuesday night. Six different Rams found the back of the net and five URI players had at least one assist in the victory, Rhody's second in a row.
Brandon Bermingham scored the first two goals of the night, while
Isak Oystese had two goals and two assists for Rhode Island. The Rams had three first-half goals and five more after the break as it applied constant pressure on the Bengal net.
Michael Hofstetter – who assisted on Bermingham's second goal – scored the third URI goal off an assist from
Kevin Castaneda.
Oystsese's first goal of the night made the score 4-0 Rhode Island less than four minutes into the second half before Maine Fort Kent got on the board with an unassisted tally from Ajay Chin in the 51st minute.
From there it was all Rhode Island.
Shadrach Walker scored in the 68th minute off assists from Hofstetter and Oystese.
Nate Yurkovic planted a free kick into the back of the net in the 71st minute, and
Mesafint Ellingson scored in the 80th minute. The final goal came in the 82nd minute when Oystese headed home a pass from
