How it Happened
An off shooting night doomed Rhode Island as visiting Quinnipiac won 61-59 on a buzzer-beating jumper by Bri Bowen Thursday.

URI (5-3) led 55-48 with four minutes to go after Mayé Touré sank a pair of free throws. Quinnipiac (2-4) came back with a 9-0 run that included second-chance 3-pointers by Jackie Grisdale and Paige Girardi. Girardi's shot put the Bobcats up 57-55 with 57 seconds to go, setting up a wild final minute.

Rhody retook the lead when Tenin Magassa hit a layup while drawing a foul. Her free throw made the score 58-57 in favor of the Rams. Grisdale hit a layup to put the guests ahead by one. Touré was fouled with 20 seconds to go and hit 1-of-2 at the line to knot the score at 59-59.

URI's defense forced Quinnipiac to call a timeout with nine seconds to go. Out of the timeout, the defense appeared to cause a loose ball in the final moments, but the ball found Bowen on the baseline. She managed to get a jumper off just before the buzzer, handing a stunning loss to the Rams in the process.
